EoP Land Reform: Help Flooded Bankrupt Midwest Farmers keep their Farms.

The worst flooding disaster in the history of the Midwest is just getting started, and as this crisis unfolds we are all going to be feeling the pain.  The “bomb cyclone” that recently brought hurricane-force winds and blizzard conditions to the middle of the nation was the spark that set off this catastrophic flooding, and now all of the snow from one of the snowiest winters in decades is going to be feeding into rivers that have already shattered all-time flood records.  As you will see below, most of the Great Plains and Upper Midwest is currently covered by more than 10 inches of snow, and all of that water has to go somewhere.  As all of that snow melts, we are going to witness an agricultural disaster that is far beyond anything that we have ever seen before in modern American history. ….. At this moment, millions of acres of farmland are underwater, and that is not going to change any time soon.  When the flood waters came, they moved so rapidly that they literally picked up pigs and baby calves and carried them along.  Roads, rail lines and entire small towns have been washed away, and so even if farmers had something left to sell they couldn’t get it to market anyway. We have also witnessed the loss of massive stockpiles of wheat, corn and soybeans that had already been harvested. And thanks to the ongoing trade war with China, farmers had a staggering amount of wheat, corn and soybeans stored on their farms right now: As of Dec. 1, producers in states with flooding – including South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin and Illinois – had 6.75 billion bushels of corn, soybeans and wheat stored on their farms – 38 percent of the total U.S. supplies available at that time, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data. …. In addition to everything else, all of this flooding is causing massive topsoil erosion.  We had already lost over half our topsoil, and we aren’t too far from an apocalyptic situation: And severe winter and spring floods take another toll that’s much more difficult to quantify: Soil loss, on a grand scale, right in the region that provides a huge amount of our food supply. The Midwest boasts one of the globe’s greatest stores of topsoil, more than half of which has been lost in the past 50 years. Topsoil is the fragile, slow-to-regenerate resource that drives agriculture. As University of Washington ecologist David Montgomery explained in his terrific 2007 book Dirt: The Erosion of Civilizations: “With just a couple feet of soil standing between prosperity and desolation, civilizations that plow through their soil vanish.” – End of the American Dream: Catastrophic Flooding In Midwest Could Last “For Months”, Threatens US Food Production.

More frequent and severe flooding resulting from massive rainfall is one of the more devastating consequences of climate change. As average temperatures rise, air warms and holds on to more moisture, roughly 7 percent more water for every degree Celsius increase. We’ve already seen the amount of rain dished out from major storms increase over the past century. The past five years were also the hottest on record. And as an El Niño weather pattern takes hold, forecasters think that 2019 could become the hottest year ever. So keep an umbrella close by. – Vox: The Midwest floods are going to get much, much worse.

Famine, economic collapse, a sun that cooks us: What climate change could wreak — sooner than you think. … And however sanguine you might be about the proposition that we have already ravaged the natural world, which we surely have, it is another thing entirely to consider the possibility that we have only provoked it, engineering first in ignorance and then in denial a climate system that will now go to war with us for many centuries, perhaps until it destroys us. That is what Wallace Smith Broecker, the avuncular oceanographer who coined the term “global warming,” means when he calls the planet an “angry beast.” You could also go with “war machine.” Each day we arm it more. – New Yorker Magazine: The Uninhabitable Earth [SQ Copy].

EoP SciCult intnl-law Land Reform:

If Ecology of Peace Scientific and Cultural law [eop-scicultlaw.tygae.org.za] is implemented as international law; thereby authorizing global EoP land reform [eop-landreform.tygae.org.za] these bankrupt farmers would not be evicted from their farms.

Caveats:

* All citizens who sign their responsible freedom [responsible-freedom.tygae.org.za] oaths [eop-axis-oath.tygae.org.za] confirming their intention to cooperate to enable orderly and humane deindustrialization return to living in harmony with ecological carrying capacity limits; would be entitled to a guaranteed property ration for life to enable their their shelter and survival self-sufficiency to enable the rebuilding of a relocalized low-tech organic agrarian sustainable future.

* If a farmers current farm exceeds the property ration amount, the amount above the property ration would be nationalized to provide to another responsible freedom citizen as their property ration. Remaining nationalized land will be returned to rewilding for reforestation, etc.

[14.2] Land Reform Claim:
Minister of Justice and Land Reform files land reform claim notice: All individuals and organizations property – above and beyond the property ration [property-ration.tygae.org.za ] level for that eco-region – will be nationalized by the state.

[15.3] Land Reform:

[15.4] Minister of Environment & Education:
Footprint scientists to setup a simple easy to understand Global Land Footprint database to formalize carrying capacity footprint [eop-footprint.tygae.org.za ] limits for the different eco-regions. Upon the deadline date, it shall be known how many Responsible Freedom oaths citizens there are in the nation. Each eco-region’s footprint will determine the size of a responsible freedom citizen in that eco-regions property ration [property-ration.tygae.org.za].

[15.5] Minister of Justice, Land Reform and Health:
Minister of Justice to setup a Responsible Freedom Oath Database: All citizens can voluntarily sign their Responsible Freedom [responsible-freedom.tygae.org.za ] Oaths. If they (a) own land; they can keep as much of their land property; within the confines of the property ration [property-ration.tygae.org.za ] for that eco-region, whatever is above the eco-region property ration level will be (i) immediately nationalized if or where it is needed for citizens who do not have land and have signed their responsible freedom oaths, starting with nationalization of the properties who have the largest excess above the property ration; (ii) will be nationalized on deadline date for reforestation rewilding; (b) do not own land, they will be given a property ration of land from nationalized land; within the confines of the property ration for the particular eco-region of such property ration; to use to enable their shelter and survival self-sufficiency to enable the rebuilding of a relocalized low-tech organic agrarian sustainable future.

* In a Post Peak Oil world farmers focus their farming on organic regenerating the soil sustainable farming methods.

Studies suggest that regenerating soil by turning our backs on industrial farming holds the key to tackling climate change. Soil is the second biggest reservoir of carbon on the planet, next to the oceans. It holds four times more carbon than all the plants and trees in the world. But human activity like deforestation and industrial farming – with its intensive ploughing, monoculture and heavy use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides – is ruining our soils at breakneck speed, killing the organic materials that they contain. There is, however, a solution. Scientists and farmers around the world are pointing out that we can regenerate degraded soils by switching from intensive industrial farming to more ecological methods – not just organic fertiliser, but also no-tillage, composting, and crop rotation. Here’s the brilliant part: as the soils recover, they not only regain their capacity to hold CO2, they begin to actively pull additional CO2 out of the atmosphere. The science on this is quite exciting. A study published recently by the US National Academy of Sciences claims that regenerative farming can sequester 3% of our global carbon emissions. An article in Science suggests it could be up to 15%. And new research from the Rodale Institute in Pennsylvania, although not yet peer-reviewed, says sequestration rates could be as high as 40%. – PNAS: 30 Oct 2012: Andreas Gattinger: Enhanced top soil carbon stocks under organic farming. Former Judge Jason Brent: A Global One Child Law Proposal: How to Determine Who Can and Who Cannot Reproduce:
The action I am initially proposing is value neutral and does not favor or harm any individual or group. The action I am proposing will be applied to every person or group without favoring anyone. The action is very simple—limit the right of any male to father only one live child and limit the right of every woman to one live birth. In simple terms a couple is limited to one and only one child—not one child for the male and one child for the female. Since survival of our species depends on the one child rule, under my proposal any attempt to evade the rule would result in death of the evader and of any second child. The rule to be fair must be absolute, without a single exception. If the female cannot or refuses to provide the name of the father she and the child shall be immediately executed. All of the ideas set forth in this paragraph may be considered horrible and inhumane. However, since they will be applied equally, no individual or group is harmed except to the extent that an individual cannot either father or give birth to a second child. The harm caused to the individual and the harm caused to all of humanity by enforcing the one child rule set forth above is miniscule compared to the harm which all of humanity would suffer if population were not reduced. – Jason Brent: A Global One Child Law Proposal: How to Determine Who Can and Who Cannot Reproduce.

Guerrylla Laws are drawn up in accordance with the proactive conservation policies of Bhutan, who set aside 40% of their biologically productive to be returned to its natural state, for other species and wildlife conservation purposes; then that means that the total amount of biologically productive carrying capacity land available to humans is 60% of 12 billion; which amounts to 7.2 billion gha total; or 60% of 1.8 gha, which is 1 gha each. Population factor is relevant, because the more humans there are, the less biologically productive land there is for everyone else.

1. […] The American Farm Bureau (AFB) warned Wednesday that farm bankruptcies are entering a parabolic move. The farm crisis, as we’ve pointed out, is only accelerating and will likely be on par with the farm disaster that was seen in the early 1980s. ….. The policies enacted in the 1950s and ’60s came to a head in the ’80s, in what became known as “the farm crisis.” In his 1997 book, Harvest of Rage, journalist Joel Dyer draws a line from the planned devastation of the farm crisis to the rise of the 1990s antigovernment movement, including the 1995 bombing of an Oklahoma City federal building that killed 168 people. – Zero Hedge: Next Shoe in the Farm Crisis Drops: Bankruptcies Soar 24%; Civil Eats: Want to Understand Trump’s Rise?
